I don’t know who “invented” them, but virtual book tours, also known as blog hops, are inspired ideas. From the comfort of our own homes and even from our vacation spots, authors can promote their books far and wide. We don’t have to spend hours or days crossing continents and oceans, or the expense of airfare, trains and hotels. The Internet takes care of that.
On Friday, the first stop on my 7-day BLACK WATER blog tour took me to Ottawa, the capital of Canada where Linda Wiken runs Mystery Maven Canada. Yesterday, I visited Oakville, Ontario, to visit Melodie Campbell, executive director of Crime Writers of Canada and the author of several novels.
And TODAY I am in Trinity, Texas, where BLACK WATER’s Sister Celia de Franco was interviewed by author Diane Rapp. Diane and I are buddies on Sweet Tweets, a daily tweet team for writers. She is a gracious blog hostess and a good interviewer. She must have some journalism experience in her background.
Diane spoke to Celia about the events in BLACK WATER. Celia is a friend of Pat Tierney, BLACK WATER’s central character, and she was able to give readers a slightly different perspective on the story than Pat does in her first-person narration.

Tomorrow, Monday, I’ll really be on the move. I’ll be visiting author Michael McCann in the Limerick Forest south of Ottawa, and then dashing hundreds of kilometres across the province of Ontario to meet up with author Alison Bruce in Guelph.
