Still months to go till warm weather arrives in my part of Canada, but winter is heating up in other ways.
Just heard that my short story “Crazy” will be part of Darkhouse Books’ upcoming noir anthology, Black Coffee. I’ll be in good company with 23 fellow writers, including Short Mystery Fiction Society president Jan Christensen. Black Coffee is scheduled to be released in mid-March.
Novel Writing II–How to Develop Your Novel, my course at George Brown College, is now into its third week. I have seven talented students, all of them super keen. We were so engrossed in workshopping this past Tuesday evening that we stayed in the classroom a half-hour longer than called for. Onto antagonists, point of view and setting this coming week.
This Thursday, Jan. 28, I join fellow Crime Writers of Canada authors at the Ontario Library Association Super Conference. Twelve of us will pitch our books to librarians from across the province. I’m pleased that I’ll be there because librarians are writers’ best friends! I’ll give a short reading from my upcoming Pat Tierney mystery.
On Feb. 6, I’ll join fellow Mesdames of Mayhem M.H. Callway, Melodie Campbell, Lisa de Nikolits and Joan O’Callaghan at the Burlington Heritage Fair at the Burlington Library. This year’s event celebrates women in the arts, politics, business and history. The Mesdames were invited to take part after our acclaimed appearance at the library last spring.
And there will be more adventures to come!
